Kalama River

I have only fished for Steelhead a twice in my life. Both times were on the Kalama River with my fishing guide friend, Monty Thierry from Reel Adventures Guide Service, my son John and my very good friend, Seth. Monty always put us on fish and the trips were tons of fun, but the last trip we were required to “catch and release” because the fish we caught were natives (meaning not hatchery fish). For me that took all the fun out of the trip and I will not be going steelhead fishing again as long as the odds are high for catching natives. Regardless of this, I will always have good memories of my two steelhead trips on the Kalama River.
